Perspective

"Today’s business leader must understand their own inner workings with an unprecedented clarity and depth and then translate this newly won wisdom into unprecedented courage, vision and innovation. For as Shakespeare so aptly put it: ‘The problem, dear Brutus, is not in our stars, but in ourselves.’"

Dave Laveman

In September 2010, Dave Laveman took Emeritus status as a Founding Partner of the Praemia Group to begin work on a Ph.D. in Mythological Studies with an emphasis on Depth Psychology at The Pacifica Graduate Institute. This decision was based on an accumulation of observations that the transitions the institution of business is undergoing today are patterned by an underlying mythos that has yet to be articulated. While at Pacifica, Dave will focus his research on the mythic and archetypal substrata that may point the way toward sustainable organizational transformation and individual awakening.

Dave has unique qualifications for the journey he is undertaking.  For more than 25 years, he has been engaged in organizational transformation work, change management and executive coaching, a field in which he was one of the early pioneers. Dave has founded or co-founded 3 consulting firms and has held Vice President / partner positions at Accenture, CSC and The Concours Group. He is well versed in the ontology of organizations and the importance of managing the network of conversations that make creating a future possible. He has also been a speaker on “Leadership In Changing Times” and “Building High-Performance Teams”.

Previous to his consulting experience, Dave earned a certificate In Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy and an MSSW from Columbia University.  His on-the-ground business experience combined with a trained sensitivity to unconscious motivation makes Dave well qualified for the research he does at Pacifica Graduate Institute.
