As a management consultant, trainer, facilitator and coach, Gary Taylor has spent over 30 years working with a number of Fortune 500 CEOs and their management teams, government officials and public and private organizations around the globe. As Senior Engagement Manager at Praemia, Gary builds strategic relationships and consults internationally on leadership and team building. He is known for coaching leaders to create sustainable futures, maintain an unstoppable mindset, and focus on how they respond to circumstances—the only thing they can control—in a way that inspires others. In this way, his clients awaken to their own potential as leaders and invent the future of humanity and our planet.
For the past two decades, he has been involved with various consultancies focused on organizational transformation, leadership development, sustainable large-scale system change and teamwork. As president of GD Taylor & Associates, he has served multiple clients, including companies such as Conoco, El Paso Energy, Cascade Corporation of Portland, and China Aviation Oil of Singapore, for the last decade.
Most recently, Gary lived in and worked out of Singapore as Regional Director, Asia of a small global consulting company. While there, he sold and managed contracts throughout China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Australia and South Africa; coached clients on breakthrough performance and leadership; ran leadership programs; managed the Singapore office; and recruited and trained staff.
From 1994 to 2000, Gary was VP responsible for the transformational practice at Computer Science Corporation (CSC), a business services and information technology company. At CSC, he led a four-year $40M reengineering and transformational project with Occidental Chemical and was senior advisor to a major IRS project.As a consultant and project manager at Bickson Pitcher Seeton, he led three projects with Abitibi Price, then the largest pulp and paper manufacturer in the world, and consulted with Campbell’s and Monsanto Canada from 1989 to 1992.
Gary’s commitment to serving people was first demonstrated in his early careers as a state and federal level public sector consultant dealing with education and health issues, as a high school teacher, as a Vista Volunteer in rural America and as an RN in the intensive care nursery at Washington Hospital Center in DC. During the last 16 years, Gary’s interest in meditation, spirituality and volunteer charitable work has repeatedly brought him to India, where he served with the Shirdi Sai Global Trust®, an educational and healthcare trust for the poor and needy. Gary has extensive training from leading edge coaching and training organizations, personal motivation experts and business courses, including the Harvard mini-MBA program. He obtained his Masters in Public Health at John Hopkins, his Masters in Arts Teaching at Northwestern, and his Bachelor of Arts from the University of Illinois.
